Single core, side-emitting fibre cables are a single core insulated in a clear UV protected sheath. The fibre core is made of PMMA (PolyMethylMethAcrylate) and transmits cold light from the illuminator with no electricity or heat in the fibre cable.
Side-emitting fibres emit light from their side and ends, primarily used in chandeliers and in low ambient strip lighting to outline or define a shape or object. Other applications of side-emitting lighting are in architectural models, Christmas decorations and artworks, such as sculptures benefiting from the flexibility and no electricity in the cable.
Depending on the application, the fibre cable ends can be cut clean or have lenses and decorative fittings attached. End fittings allow designers to produce different light beam angles and light diffusion effects through the fitting's lens without the need of a powered LED fitting.
Side-emitting fibre cables can be delivered on rolls for onsite cutting and processing. Alternatively, LightEFX can customise and prefabricate fibre cable lengths tailored to your specific projects. Call now to discuss your needs or requirements for tailored solution.
